The Cory-Rawson Local School District and the Findlay Family YMCA are excited to announce the opening of the YMCA Child Development Center at Cory-Rawson. The center will provide child care services year-round to infants through school-aged children on the Cory-Rawson campus.
“At Cory-Rawson, we’re focused on the advantages of a small school while providing big opportunities,” said Cory-Rawson Superintendent Jay Clark. “We are eager to provide this big opportunity to the greater community, our families, students and school staff. The YMCA’s child development center has a terrific reputation and we’re excited to work alongside them. The child care center is the foundation of Cory-Rawson’s aspiration to be a community hub.”

Initial plans are for the YMCA Child Development Center at Cory-Rawson to open in Fall 2023. The school district, working with the Cory-Rawson Education Association, was awarded an American Federation of Teachers Innovation Fund grant to propel Cory-Rawson’s community hub vision and provide for facilities changes needed for the child care space.

The Findlay Family YMCA was established in Findlay in 1888. Since then, they have expanded to multiple locations across Findlay, and intend to grow their outreach throughout the county. The Findlay YMCA Child Development Center operates year-round, Monday through Friday from 6:15am to 6:00pm at 231 East Lincoln Street, serving ages six weeks through 5th grade. The Findlay YMCA Child Development Center is currently 3-star rated with Ohio’s Step up to Quality program and has a focus on providing a positive environment for learning, planning, investigating, problem solving, and independent growth.
Cory-Rawson Local Schools serve a student population of nearly 550 on one campus. Our students reside in the local villages of Mount Cory, Rawson, and Jenera, the rural areas of a 105 square mile district and enroll through interdistrict open enrollment from eight area districts. The district’s strategic plan and Portrait of a Graduate guide continuous improvement focused on culture, student learning, student experience, and communication. Capitalizing on the benefits of a small school, our K-12 staff can collaborate with a quick trip down the hallway, build relationships with families, and capitalize on small class sizes.
